Injectables like dermal fillers and Botox® Cosmetic are minimally-invasive procedures that can help to lift, shape, smooth and renew youthfulness to the face.

What Are Injectables?

Injectables are substances administered into the skin or muscle to create volume, fill lines, relax muscles or change the definition and structure of the face.

What Are the Different Kinds of Dermal Fillers?

Hyaluronic acid — the most common, can be easily reversed

Calcium Hydroxylapatite — white filler that emulates the bone structure

Polylactic acid — spreads easily under the skin creating general volume and fullness

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Depending on the type used, dermal fillers can last from three months up to two years.

What Happens When Dermal Fillers Dissipate?

Unless you've had extreme filler procedures, as the dermal filler dissipates, your skin will return to its original shape and position.

What Are the Risks of Getting Dermal Fillers?

  • Bruising
  • Swelling
  • Initial lumps or bumps
  • Allergic reaction
  • Blocked blood vessel

What Are the Benefits of Under-Eye Filler?

Whether you have under-eye hollowing due to genetics or aging, using injectable dermal fillers can give that area a more youthful, energized and lifted appearance.

What Is Botox® Cosmetic?

Unlike injectable fillers which volumize and lift the skin, Botox® Cosmetic relaxes the muscle underneath the skin. When the muscle can't contract, it won't cause the skin on top of it to wrinkle and fold.

For most people, the results from Botox Cosmetic® last about three to four months.

Deciding Between Dermal Fillers and Botox® Cosmetic

Trying to decide between dermal fillers or Botox® Cosmetic? If you are looking for added volume, fullness and lift, dermal fillers may be the best option. If you are looking to relax and smooth an area, Botox® Cosmetic may be a better fit.

The two treatments can also be used in conjunction to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. Talk with a face specialist to get expert advice on the best ways to address your areas of concern.

Do Injectables Hurt?

Usually not. Most practitioners use microneedles along with numbing agents and even laughing gas to minimize any patient discomfort.

How Much Do Dermal Fillers or Botox Cosmetic® Cost?

Injectables like dermal fillers and Botox® Cosmetic are usually priced by the unit so the size of the area and the amount of the product needed to achieve your desired results will impact the total price. Many providers may offer discounts if you purchase package deals or are getting multiple treatments at once.

For example, lip flip treatment may cost $30-$100 while a whole-face treatment could range from $5,000-$10,000.
