What is the Wellcare Spendables card?
The Wellcare Spendables card is a pre-loaded debit card offered to eligible Centene Medicare Advantage members, providing funds for specific health-related expenses. The card can be used at participating retailers for eligible* over-the-counter (OTC) items, healthy foods, and more. New for 2026, the card can be used to pay for eligible* out-of-pocket dental, vision and hearing expenses. Payments with the Wellcare Spendables card are processed exclusively through CareCredit’s Provider Center.
Why should I accept the Wellcare Spendables card?
New for 2026, Wellcare members can use their Medicare Advantage Wellcare Spendables card to pay for eligible* out-of-pocket dental, vision and hearing expenses. With nearly 1 million Wellcare Spendables cardholders**, this new capability allows them to access additional funds to move forward with your recommended care.
How do I process a payment with the Wellcare Spendables card in Provider Center?

What information will I need in order to process a payment with the Wellcare Spendables card?
The following information will be needed to process a payment with the Wellcare Spendables card:
- Member ID from the patient’s insurance card
- Member’s last name
- NPI Type 2 (for healthcare organizations)
- NPI Type 1 (for individual healthcare providers)
- Service code(s) associated with the charge
- Fee(s) for the service code
What is CareCredit?
CareCredit is a dedicated health and wellness credit card with special financing options, offering patients a way to pay over time for the care they want or need. CareCredit is accepted at over 285K+ locations nationwide. Once you’re enrolled with CareCredit, you’ll be able to opt-in to accept the Wellcare Spendables card and process payments, exclusively through CareCredit’s Provider Center.
Enrollment and Opt-in Process
I don’t currently accept the CareCredit credit card. How do I process payments with the Wellcare Spendables card?
In order to process payments with the Wellcare Spendables card, you have to enroll to accept CareCredit. Not sure what CareCredit is? Learn more at carecredit.com/providers or call us at 800-300-3046, and select Option 5 to enroll.
Why should I enroll to accept CareCredit?
By accepting the CareCredit credit card, you’re empowering patients to move forward with care. CareCredit offers special financing that cardholders can use again and again to pay over time for many types of care at enrolled locations nationwide – and there’s no need for them to reapply. And, you get paid within two business days! Additionally, in order to accept the Wellcare Spendables card, you’ll need to be a CareCredit enrolled provider.
If my practice already accepts CareCredit, do I need to take any action now to accept the Wellcare Spendables card?
When you log into CareCredit’s Provider Center at carecreditprovidercenter.com, a small box will appear asking if you want to enroll (opt-in) to accept the Wellcare Spendables card. With a few clicks, you’ll be able to view the terms and pricing, complete the opt-in and process the card immediately.
Once I opt-in to accept the Wellcare Spendables card, will I be able to process payments immediately using the Wellcare Spendables card?
Yes, once you opt-in to accept the Wellcare Spendables card, you’ll be able to process payment immediately.
I’m interested in accepting the Wellcare Spendables card, but not right away. Where do I go to opt-in at a later date?
Providers that accept CareCredit, can opt-in via:
- CareCredit’s Provider Center OR
- If your practice has previously opted-out, please contact CareCredit’s Provider Services at 800-859-9975.
What if my staff enrolled, but I don’t want my practice to accept the Wellcare Spendables card?
The primary contact you identified for CareCredit will receive an email upon accepting the terms. If you do not want to accept this type of payment, please call CareCredit’s Provider Services at 800-859-9975. They will be able to help to turn off this functionality to no longer accept the Spendables card.
If I’m the primary contact for multiple locations, can I opt-in all my locations at one time to accept the Wellcare Spendables card?
Yes, in Provider Center, when you opt-in to accept the card, you’ll have the option to opt-in all your locations at the same time.
If my practice has multiple locations and I enrolled all of them at the same time, what happens if one of them wants to unenroll from accepting the Wellcare Spendables card?

How do I find out the balance on my patient’s Wellcare Spendables card?
Your patient (the Wellcare member) will be able to check their balance by calling the number on the back of the card or through the Wellcare Spendables Rewards portal or app.
What if my patient’s Wellcare Spendables card doesn’t have a large enough balance to cover their entire expense?
You can split the payment by accepting another form of payment, including the CareCredit credit card. If using CareCredit, simply process the transaction in Provider Center. If your patient is using another form of payment, please process this as you normally would.
What happens if I tried to process a payment, but was unsuccessful or received a decline? How can I assist my patient?
Please advise your patient to call the number on the back of their card and they will help to troubleshoot the transaction.

You will receive your funds with your CareCredit settlement. Your statement will clearly indicate these transactions.
How long will it take to receive payment after the Wellcare Spendables card was used?
Payments will typically be paid within 3-5 business days.
