Founded in 1987, CareCredit was initially offered to doctors to help their patients pay for new dental implant technology. Continued advancements in technology, and procedures that are often not covered or fully covered by insurance, have created new choices for care, increasing the demand for financing options.

CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that can be used as a payment option for certain expenses not covered by insurance or to bridge payment when desired care exceeds insurance coverage. CareCredit is offered primarily for:

  • Dentistry
  • Vision care, including vision correction
  • Veterinary medicine
  • Hearing care
  • Cosmetic treatments and surgery

Products

CareCredit is a credit card with a revolving line of credit that can be used repeatedly for elective medical treatments for any family member, including pets. CareCredit is a simple way to consolidate and manage certain out-of-pocket healthcare expenses with two basic payment plans to meet an individual's financial needs:

  • No Interest if Paid in Full within 6, 12, 18 or 24 Months* on purchases made with your CareCredit credit card. Not all promotional plans are available at all Participating Professionals. Interest will be charged to your account from the purchase date if the promotional purchase is not paid in full within the promotional period or if you make a late payment. Minimum Monthly Payments Required and may pay off purchase before end of promo period.
  • 14.90% APR and Fixed Monthly Payments Required Until Paid in Full** on purchases made with your CareCredit credit card. Fixed monthly payment amount based on repayment over 24, 36, 48 or 60 month period. Purchases of $1000 or more are eligible for a 24, 36 or 48 month offer and purchases of $2500 or more are eligible for a 60 month offer. Not all promotional plans are available at all Participating Professionals.

Not all practices offer every payment plan.

  • We strive to fully inform consumers about CareCredit and its terms through our application process, monthly statements, and provider network.
  • We actively listen to cardholders through multiple channels, including our 7,000-member Patient Advisory Board, regular surveys; customer service center located in Tempe, Arizona; and dedicated Healthcare Advocacy Team of customer service professionals with in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry. User input enables us to continually enhance our programs and processes, including: implementing welcome calls for some cardholders; advance reminders of the promotional end date and other notifications; and providing a large-format card carrier.
  • Safeguarding cardholders with protective measures is a top priority. We monitor our provider network for any unusual dispute activity and shifts in usage or trends. Helpful consumer tools and detailed program information are available at www.carecredit.com, including payment calculators; tips for using credit wisely; a provider locator; and other features.

  • CareCredit is only accepted at approved providers who are provided with training on how to present the product to their patients and who adhere to program policies.
  • A team of experienced practice managers, our in-house training team and online resource center give comprehensive training and ongoing support to our provider network. Key training components emphasized include: privacy and fraud prevention, explanation of promotion requirements, and presenting plan details, terms and disclosures.
  • Use of CareCredit is not permitted for emergency room visits, chronic and acute care needs and to finance existing hospital obligations.

Charitable Contributions

CareCredit supports our corporate and professional association partners in their efforts to improve access to care for the underserved.

CareCredit is the founding donor of the American Dental Association's (ADA) "Give Kids a Smile" fund, which provides grants to community outreach programs to expand access to dental care for underserved children from low-income families. CareCredit also contributes to the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which donates more than 20,000 hearing aids to low-income children around the world; and to the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) "Helping Pets Fund," supporting veterinary care for pets that have been abandoned or whose owners are experiencing financial hardship.
