There are many benefits of having CardCredit, but as with other credit products, precautionary measures should be taken to help prevent credit fraud and identity theft.
HERE ARE SOME BASIC TIPS:
- Sign your card immediately upon receipt and keep it in a secure place.
- Always bring your CareCredit® card with you to your provider's office. It is best to have your card with you for all treatments and procedures and not just your account number. Your CareCredit card and/or other identification may be used for verification purposes.
- Carefully review your monthly statement to ensure you recognize all transactions.
- Pay attention to your billing cycles. A missed bill should never go unaddressed. If you don’t receive one, check it out to make sure there are no issues.
PROTECTING YOUR ACCOUNT ONLINE:
Online Account Management is a secure and convenient way to manage your CareCredit account. Following are added precautions you can take to make online access safer.
- Be cautious of e-mails requesting your account information or personal information, commonly called "phishing" e-mails. With any suspicious e-mail, always remember:
- If you do not recognize the sender, do not open it.
- If you do accidentally open it, do not click to download attachments or files.
- If anything on the e-mail prompts you to provide private information, such as account numbers or social security number — DO NOT DO IT!
- Always keep passwords private, and use a different password for each online account. Avoid obvious passwords and easy-to-find names and numbers like your birthday and phone number.
- Install firewalls and virus-detection software on your home computers. If you have a high-speed Internet connection, unplug the computer’s cable or phone line when you aren't using it.
- Keep a record of all your accounts and card numbers in case a problem occurs.
